How to use our products...
We have included below some useful tips and advice to help you get the most out of your seaweed fertiliser.
1. Wear Gloves.
Our seaweed fertilisers, do not contain any chemicals or toxins, however we do still suggest it is best to wear gloves when using the fertilisers.
2. Gently shake your fertiliser bottle.
We have created a fertiliser that is specially mixed with a variety of seaweed species. A gentle shake will ensure the mixture is uniform and all minerals are evenly distributed.
3. Mix 2 caps full of seaweed fertiliser with water.
Each cap is approximately 5ml, mixing 10ml with 1litre of water gives the right concentration level for your plants and succulents.
4. Soil drench or Foliar spray
This next step involves choosing between drenching the soil, a process where you spray or pour the diluted seaweed solution directly onto the soil. The minerals will be directed straight to the root system and micro-organisms decomposing the soil.
If you would prefer to spray the plant itself, pour the seaweed solution into a spray bottle and spray all of leaves of your plant. This will provide nutrition directly to the leaves to transport around the plant.
5. Repeat the above once a week /bi-weekly depending on your plant species.
All plants and succulents have preferred environmental conditions. Some like shade, others like direct sunlight. The amount of seaweed fertiliser needed by the plant should be monitored and given as needed to the plant. You should start to see a change in your plant health within 6-8 weeks of first application.
How to use your fertiliser
Store in a cool, dark place and limit the amount of air into the fertiliser. Usually in a cupboard under the sink or in the garden shed is a suitable place.
Do not attempt to drink the liquid fertiliser. Although the fertiliser is a natural occurring product, it has not been designed or fit for human consumption.
When opening after a period of time, open in a well ventilated space.
It is sometimes usual for a layer to appear at the top of your fertiliser, this occurs when air, moisture and heat gain access to the fertiliser. You can strain off the top layer before applying your fertiliser. The remaining solution can still be used and will produce healthy, strong plants, leaves and root systems.
How to store your fertiliser
Every plant/succulent enthusiast knows that your soil health is vital for your plant to grow strong and stay alive. Good nutritious soil has a mixture of nutrients, minerals and decomposers (micro-organisms breaking down inorganic material). Your seaweed fertiliser is rich in minerals that is needed for your soil to provide to your plant/succulent when needed. We talk about these nutrients more in our blog and you tube videos, so if you would like to learn more about seaweed minerals head over and take a look.
Once you have mixed your fertiliser and you are ready to use, apply slowly and evenly over the soil. Allow time for the fertiliser to soak into the soil (your soil should turn a darker shade). Too much fertiliser can lead to plant burn, so ensure you apply in small amounts at a time until the soil has changed in shade.
Reapply every 7-14 days depending on your plant species. The colour and shade of the soil is an indicator of when your plant is ready for more nutrition.
Whilst the soil is great place to apply your seaweed fertiliser, you can also spray your plant/succulent on the leaves with your fertiliser too.
Using a spray bottle, lightly spray all over the plant, ensuring you cover all of the leaves and stem.
Reapply every 7-14 days depending on the species of plant/succulent.
Signs that your plant has been over-fertilised include leaf burn (brown tips), leaves turning yellow and/or slow growth or no growth.

Succulents require very low amounts of nitrogen, phosphorus and potash. Seaweed fertiliser contains these in small amounts and many other minerals and plant hormones such as auxins, gibberellins and cytokinins which is the perfect combination for succulents.
Once the seaweed fertiliser has been mixed add to a spray bottle and gently spray over your succulent. Repeat this every month or bi-montly depending on the species and size of your succulent. Again, look for signs that your succulent needs a dose of seaweed fertiliser and also signs of over-fertilisation.
When growing on succulents, seaweed fertiliser is excellent to stimulant root growth. With new cuttings of your succulent spray lightly over the roots and watch your succulent grow. Again repeat once a month/bi-monthly depending on species.
When it comes to applying seaweed fertiliser to your plants there are two main methods to chose from.
The first is a foliar spray. This involves adding your mixed seaweed fertiliser to a spray bottle and gently spraying the fertiliser all over the leaves of the plant. The second is soil drenching where your seaweed fertiliser is applied directly to the soil. The roots will then absorb the minerals and nutrients that is needed through the root system.

Whether you chose to spray your leaves or drench the soil comes down to personal preference and getting to know your own plants and their environmental preferences and sensitivities. It is also useful when first trying out a fertiliser to apply in small amounts and adjust the volume based on the response of your plants.
